The after school program called St. Monica’s Extended Day Program, reflects our philosophy of the after school environment: it is a continuation of our students’ school day. We expect the same courtesies, responsibilities, and discipline that is expected during class times. We also realize that the students have been in class and at school all day, and by the time some of them get picked up to go home, they’ve been here a long time. So, we do make some allowances for this, yet expect the students to conduct themselves accordingly. Our hours are 2:30pm to 6:00pm.
We hope our web pages answer your questions about our Extended Day Program. If you have any additional questions, or would like to visit us, please feel free to do so. We’d be happy to show you around. Please see the chart below for our rate structure.
In our homework room, we provide students ample opportunity and an environment conducive to good study habits. Our homework room is monitored by a few of our classroom teachers. They do a fantastic job assisting those students who need a little more time in finishing their homework and motivating those needing a little extra help. In the homework room we have a couple of computers, one is connected to the Internet, and the students may use it while doing assigned work. If the students just need the use of a word processing program and printer they are welcome to use the computers for that as well. We encourage those students who have homework to do it while they are here, as we have many resources available to them. Moreover, by the time some of the students get home, have dinner and a little free time, it is often too late to be just getting started doing homework. We also realize this time is critical, because they may be involved in other activities later in the day.
Other Activities and Opportunities
We realize too that not all students have homework. For these students, we offer a wide variety of organized activities.
